An activist, musician, actress and best selling author McGowan has released a memoir, Brave, and starred in the four-part documentary series Citizen Rose, both in 2018. She has been on the cover of numerous magazines, including Seventeen, Interview, Maxim, GQ, Entertainment Weekly, and Rolling Stone. In 2017, Time recognized McGowan as one of the Silence Breakers, the magazine's Person of the Year, for speaking out about sexual assault and harassment. Her bravery helped take down the Hollywood king pin Harvey Weinstein and was the catalyst to the #metoo movement. Most recently, she has released an album called Planet 9.
I found her to be incredibly intelligent, witty and honest. She is deeply passionate about being brave and her book, Brave, was written to show how to do just that. I can't stress what an honour it was to have this conversation and I look forward to having more with her in the future.
